The Band was formed in October
1978,and during the early years made thirty appearances for "Pebble Mill At
One" - BBC Television. In addition, the band have appeared on many regional
television shows including a six week series for HTV. They regularly have
featured on Radio and over the years recorded many L.P's, Cassettes and

The Pete Allen Jazz Band
appears at prestigious Jazz Festivals, Theatres and Clubs throughout the UK
and abroad, with tours in Germany, Holland, Denmark, France, U.S.A, Majorca
and the Canary Islands. It also finds time to play at private parties and
weddings, including social functions for many well known personalities.
Pete's band play an exciting and
entertaining musical selection of happy traditional jazz. It's a sound that
everyone can enjoy and understand being a combination of well played music
with professional presentation perfect for any kind of event. The Pete
Allen Jazz Band provide a slick and fast moving programme for the
theatre or festival audience. Since the band's formation in 1978 it has
excelled at hundreds of major theatre venues, concert halls and festival
stages throughout the U.K. and abroad. During the summer months the band is
very popular performing at a number of outside jazz picnic events for the
National Trust and English Heritage. The band can easily adapt their show to
provide the right happy jazzy sounds for any special occasion such as a
wedding reception, birthday celebration or corporate event where they
guarantee the musical content will be the right blend of instrumentals and
well known songs for listening or dancing. Included among the countless
wedding receptions and birthday parties at which the band has performed has
been a party for Ian Botham and the music for his son's wedding reception.
The band is regularly featured at numerous prestigious functions for Rotary,
Lions International and many other charitable organisations such as
Macmillan Cancer Relief and for Leukaemia research.
The Pete Allen Jazz Band will travel
any distance to perform. They carry their own sound system which is ideal
for any medium sized venue with an audience capacity of 100 to 500 persons.
This equipment is used for balance - not high volume. For the smaller party
or wedding reception they can play acoustic, and although the band prefers a
raised stage area of about 15 feet square, they can, in exceptional
circumstances, perform in some very small areas.
